Police are holding a man they said attacked an officer and damaged a squad car during an altercation Saturday in Waianae.

According to a police report:

HPD officers responded to a report of a disturbance at a Waianae area Beach Park at 7:05 p.m. Saturday.

A 23-year-old man involved in the situation punched and kicked an officer at the scene.

The man was arrested and after being placed in the squad car, kicked out a rear passenger window.

The man was being held at the downtown Police Station on suspicion of assault, resisting arrest and other charges.

The officer was treated for minor injuries.
