Hilo reaches Juniors semifinals

Hilo pounded 20 hits en route to a 21-2 victory over Henderson, Nev., yesterday to advance to the semifinals of the Little League Junior League (ages 13-14) Western Regional at Aliso Viejo, Calif.
Hilo won its pool with a 4-1 record and will face Yakima, Wash., tomorrow.
Hilo scored seven runs in the first and six in the second for a 13-0 lead. The game was called after five innings because of a run-differential rule.
Kean Wong was 4 for 5 for Hilo with a double and four RBI. Chase Kaaua had a double, home run and three RBI. Koa Matson went 3 for 5, including a double and 4 RBI.

HILO SUFFERS FIRST POOL PLAY LOSS
Northern California scored two runs on bases-loaded walks in the top of the 10th inning to hand Hilo an 11-10 loss yesterday in the Little League Seniors (ages 15-16) West Regional at Ontario, Calif.
Hilo finished pool play 3-1 and has the day off today before the semifinals tomorrow.

KAILUA ELIMINATES SAN BERNARDINO
Kailua scored two runs in the top of the eighth inning yesterday to eliminate San Bernardino, Calif., 13-11, at the American Legion Baseball Western Regional at Fairfield, Calif.
Kailua (2-1) stole 11 bases and pounded 11 hits.
Alika Ramseyer-Ho, who relieved starter Jared Matsumoto in the first inning, pitched the rest of the way to earn the victory. He struck out eight, walked five and allowed just four hits.
Ramseyer-Ho went 2 for 3 with two runs scored and 3 RBI. Ryan McMonigle, Tyson Lono and Patrick Wolfe also had two hits.
Kailua plays Fairfield today in another elimination game.
