Arby's plans 5 more Hawaii restaurants within 5 years
Arbys plans to increase its presence in Hawaiçi with five more restaurants within the next five years.
The roast beef sandwich chain, which has five restaurants on Oçahu and two on the Big Island, signed a franchise agreement with local restaurateur Michael Hickey to open the additional stores on Oçahu.
Hickey owns and operates Pearls Korean BBQ, and said he saw an opportunity to branch out into the quick-service sandwich business with what he views as an underrepresented brand.
We felt there was a lot more opportunity (to expand Arbys), he said. Were really excited to get things going.
The new Hawaiçi franchise was one of 18 development agreements for Arbys slated to add 47 more restaurants in the U.S. and Canada for the subsidiary of Wendys/Arbys Group Inc. The company has about 3,700 restaurants.
