HONOLULU — Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Hawaii has awarded a $7 million contract for extensive renovations to the bachelor officers quarters building at Marine Corps Base Hawaii.
The work to be done by Pioneer Contracting Co. Ltd. of Wahiawa includes a new roof, new windows and energy-saving light fixtures to replace older light fixtures throughout the building constructed in 1941.
The Navy says the project will be executed in such a way as to minimize any changes or alterations to the historic design.
Other upgrades include the replacement of floor coverings and ceilings in common areas, and bathroom and toilet fixtures. On the outside, the building will get new doors and a fresh coat of paint.
The work is expected to be completed by April 2011.
