Hawaii jobless rate dips to 7% in July from 7.3% in June
Hawaiçi unemployment dipped to 7.0 percent in July as more residents found jobs.
The state Department of Labor and Industrial Relations reported the seasonally adjusted rate fell from Junes adjusted rate of 7.3 percent.
The states unemployment rate has been hovering around the 7 percent mark for several months. Julys rate was lower than the national rate of 9.4 percent but is 3 percentage points higher than a year earlier, when the state jobless mark was 4.0 percent.
The state reported the number of people employed rose to 600,150 from 597,900 in June.
Meanwhile the ranks of the unemployed slipped to 45,300, or 2,100 fewer than a month earlier.
Honolulus unemployment rate on a non-seasonally adjusted rate was 6.1 percent.
The Big Island was the only major island with a double digit rate. It came in at 10.4 percent for the month.
Kauaçis rate was 9.8 percent during the month, while Maui Islands rate was 9.2 percent.
Molokaçi and Lanaçi continued to have rates above 10 percent.
