Punahou's Komori honored

Punahou boys tennis coach Rusty Komori was honored as Professional of the Year at this week's U.S. Professional Tennis Association Hawai'i Convention at Waialae Country Club.
There are some 120 USPTA members in Hawai'i. The convention included segments with University of Hawai'i coach John Nelson and Brigham Young-Hawai'i coach Dave Porter.
Komori is a pro at Punahou and the Mililani Town Association Recreation Center Phase III. He has guided the Buffanblu to the last 16 boys state championships; Punahou has won 19 in a row overall, which ties the national record set by Edgewood (Colo.).

FREE CLINIC: Hawaiian Isles Tennis Foundation will be conducting a free Hit For Health introductory tennis on Sept. 12 for juniors, ages 11-17, at the Hale Koa Tennis Center. The clinic will be from 10:30 a.m. to noon. All equipment will be provided, including rackets. The clinic will be led by USPTA Pro and Hale Koa Hotel Head Pro Dennis Conroy.
