A woman who was struck by a van while crossing Fort Weaver Road in çEwa Beach this morning has died of her injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, described by police as an older model light-colored van, fled the scene. Police said the driver was a male, but gave no further description.
Police said the 68-year-old woman was in a crosswalk as she was crossing Fort Weaver Road near Makule Road when she was struck by the south-bound van at about 5:30 a.m. The woman was taken to The Queen’s Medical Center in critical condition, but she later died.
Police ask that anyone with information about this incident to call HPD’s Traffic Division at 529-3499.
This morning’s fatality was the 38th on Oçahu so far this year, compared with 31 during the same period last year.
