There are some pretty crazy acts that take the stage on NBC's "America's Got Talent," and now there's a local spinoff.

Starting Sept. 8, Andy Bumatai will host "Pipeline's Got Talent," a four-week talent search culminating with the winner earning a trip for two to Las Vegas that includes airfare, four nights at the California Hotel, three meals a day and transportation to and from the airport. Speaking of Pipeline Café, Wednesday marks the one-year anniversary for owner Greg Azus, who has quietly turned the concert venue/dance club into a cool lunch venue. Palolo-raised photographer Robert Knight's documentary "Rock Prophecies" was screened twice daily last week at the IDA's 13th Annual DocuWeeks Showcase in New York City. "Rock Prophecies" follows Knight's quest to find the world's next great guitar player and chronicles his past shoots of icons such as Jim Hendrix and Led Zeppelin. The film has already won three best documentary audience awards from the Maui Film Festival, AFI Dallas Film Festival and the Nashville Film Festival. It also won best soundtrack at the Rhode Island International Film Festival ...

If you're free at 5 p.m. Sunday, head over to Spalding Auditorium to check out "Finding Aloha." The film is part of the Summer Enlightenment Film Series at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa and was shot mainly on O'ahu's North Shore. A big part of the body and spirit of the film centers on the late Jimmy Hall, who founded Shark Encounters on the North Shore and gained national fame for swimming with a great white off the North Shore a few years ago. Hall was 41 when he died May 9, 2007, while base jumping off a remote mountain near the Arctic Circle. The movie's producers say his death influenced the direction of the film.
