Early-morning crash in Waimanalo leaves 16-year-old boy in critical condition

A car crash in Waimanalo early yesterday morning left 16-year-old boy is in critical condition at The Queen's Medical Center.
A 1998 Honda Accord driven by a 16-year-old girl was heading north on Hihimanu Street at 1:04 a.m. when it hit a utility pole and a large tree, police said.
The boy was in the rear seat and was thrown from the car.
The driver a front-seat passenger were taken to Queen's in good condition.
Police said speed and alcohol appear to be factors and criminal charges are pending.
The critically injured boy and the driver of the car are both from Waimanalo.
