Paralympic paddlers
Most of us will never experience the physical challenges of the watersports athletes in Aka Hemmings' Project Pure Light. Johann Bouit has been documenting an adaptive paddling team's journey to the World Sprints in Sacramento and this year's Moloka'i Ho'e. They could eventually find themselves part of the U.S. Paralympic Games. To see the team in action, read Edgy Lee's blog, Life Is Good, at ww.HonoluluAdvertiser.com/Blogs or go to http://www.sports.pacificnetwork.tv/PureLightRacing.
SPECIAL OLYMPICS
LOOK FOR COP-ON-TOP
You can support Special Olympics Hawaii and local law enforcement during the 8th annual Cop-On-Top fundraiser, Thursday through Saturday at Safeway stores throughout the state.
Officers will be perched on the stores' rooftops or in scaffolding in the parking lots to raise money for Special Olympics Hawaii, which uses competitive games and sports to each year help about 2,000 children and adults with disabilities become physically fit and productive.
