Chorus, choir sing Christmas music

Advertiser Staff

The Honolulu Symphony Chorus and the Honolulu Chamber Choir will perform classical and contemporary Christmas music at a 5:30 p.m. Dec. 13 concert in the Cathedral Church of St. Andrew.

The O'ahu Choral Society, which supports the Honolulu Symphony Chorus and the recently formed Honolulu Chamber Choir, is going forward with the concert and planning for additional 2009/2010 season events despite the Honolulu Symphony's cancellation of the remainder of its 2009 program.

The OCS board of directors issued a press release saying it is committed to presenting and promoting choral music both with the Honolulu Symphony and in independent concerts.

The Honolulu Symphony Chorus will hold auditions for new members Dec. 16 and Jan. 23. For more information, e-mail oahuchoral@gmail.com.

OCS' ninth annual fundraising banquet, Vivace!, will be held Feb. 27 at the Waialae Country Club, honoring Aaron Mahi for his contributions to the musical life of Honolulu.

At least two additional concerts are planned for the remainder of the 2009/2010 season.

Dec. 13 concert tickets are $20 general, $10 for students, seniors and military, and free for children 16 and under. For more information, visit www.oahuchoral.com.
