Honolulu man uses Craigslist to recover stolen bicycle

A Honolulu man used the Craigslist web site and some help from Honolulu police officers yesterday to recover his stolen bicycle.
The man told police he was viewing Craigslist on Tuesday in hopes of finding his bicycle when he spotted a listing with a photograph of what appeared to be his bike.
The bike owner called the seller and arranged to meet him yesterday, and then called police.
The owner and officers went to the prearranged meeting site near the intersection of Kapiolani Boulevard and McCully Street and met the 31-year-old man who had posted the Craigslist ad.
The bike’s legitimate owner identified the bicycle as his own, and a second bicycle the man had brought with him was also determined to have been stolen, police said.
The man who was intending to sell the bicycles was arrested at 8:49 a.m. on suspicion of two counts of detaining stolen property.
