Weather service still expects 30- to 40-foot waves on Oahu's north shore
Although the North Shore of Oahu is seeing only 15- to 18-foot waves this morning, the latest forecast from the National Weather Service still calls for waves along north-facing shores to build to 30 feet to 40 feet today, with occasional sets to 50 feet on the outer reefs.
Surf along west-facing shores will rise to 15 feet to 25 feet with occasional 30-footers today, according to the weather service.
East-facing shores are expected to see waves of only 2 to 4 feet, with possible heights of 10 feet to 18 feet along shores exposed to the northwest swell.
Although south-facing shores are forecast with waves of only 1 foot to 3 feet today, some areas may see inconsistent waves in unusual places as the northwest swell wraps around into the south shores.
