Shelby's Sweets, the downtown tea shop, has closed but will reopen in January with a new focus: custom wedding, birthday, anniversary and special event cakes, according to a release from proprietor Phyllis Moore-Shelby.

The new location will be 1019 Waimanu Street, Suite 101, Honolulu.
With the slogan "Made with Southern Charm and Hawaiian Flair," the business had been offering desserts to eat in with tea, or take out. Over the Christmas holidays, Shelby's Sweets continues to operate for catering from their commercial kitchen; deadline for Christmas orders is Dec. 19.
