'Great Aloha’ offers four days of events

The Kaiser Permanente Great Aloha Run will present four days of events in mid-February focusing on family, health and fitness and charity.
In addition to the 8.15-mile foot race, now in it’s 26th year, the Great Aloha Run offers a “Silverstreaks Sunrise Walk” and a “Keiki Fun Run.”
The Great Aloha Run Sports, Health & Fitness Expo is set for Feb. 12-14 at Blaisdell Center. Admission: general, $4; active duty military and dependents with ID; seniors, ages 65 and older. Keiki ages 12 and younger get in free with a paying adult.
The Silverstreaks Sunrise Walk, set for 7:30 a.m. Feb. 13. The walk, for competitors ages 55 and older, features a mile course of more than 2 miles around Ala Moana Beach Park. Participants will enjoy refreshments, entertainment, goodie bags, door prizes and official 2010 Silverstreaks T-shirt for finishers. Entry, $15 entry; $20 for late registration.
About 1,000 island keiki, ages 12 and younger, are expected to participate in a 1-1/2 mile fun run around the Blaisdell Center, set for 8 a.m. Feb. 13. A “Circus Party” will get under way after the run. It will include snacks, magicians and keiki entertainment. Participants will also receive T-shirts, refreshments, and free entry into the expo.
The 8.15-mile run from historic Aloha Tower to Aloha Stadium, which raises money for charitable organizations, is set for a sunrise start Feb. 15. Participants are invited to compete in such division as open runners, elite runners, military (active duty, reserve, National Guard, family members and DOD civilian employees), “Sounds of Freedom” (active military units running in formation), competitive wheelchairs, walking poles, and walking strollers. Entry: $35 entry donation until Jan. 22; $40 until Jan. 31; $45 cash or credit card at GAR expo.
