No Hawaii tsunami threat after 6.5 earthquake off Loyalty Islands
A Pacific-wide tsunami is not expected and there is no tsunami threat to Hawaii after a 6.5-magnitude earthquake that took place southeast of the Loyalty Islands, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said in an informational bulletin.
The earthquake took place at 11:46 p.m. last night Hawaii time.
The Loyalty Islands are an archipelago in the Pacific. They are part of the French territory of New Caledonia.
