High-surf warning for Hawaii shores
A high-surf warning is in effect until 6 p.m. tonight for north- and west-facing shores of Oahu, Kauai, Maui, Molokai and Niihau. There is a high-surf advisory for east-facing shores on Oahu and for northeast and west-facing shores of the Big Island.
A northwest swell will continue to decrease throughout the day, but the National Weather Service in Honolulu said surf will be 20 feet to 25 feet with occasional bigger sets on outer reefs this morning and slowly lowering through the day. Surf along west-facing shores will be 12 feet to 20 feet before lowering.
