Marine killed in motorcycle crash Tuesday is identified
Officials at Marine Corps Base Hawaii have identified Sgt. Alex A. Limjoco as the motorcyclist who died early Tuesday after he crashed into a telephone pole and a concrete wall in Kailua.
The incident happened a little past midnight near Oneawa and Manono streets. Police said the motorcycle, a 2008 Suzuki GSX-R 1000, was headed north on Oneawa when the rider lost control.
Limjoco, 24, was wearing a helmet and there were no other vehicles involved. He was an avionics technician with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 363, Marine Aircraft Group 24.
Marine Corps officials said Limjoco had attended the base's Basic Riders Course, the Group Riders Course and the Sport Bike Riders Course.
They said Limjoco's death was the first motorcycle fatality involving a service member from Marine Corp Base Hawaii since 2003.
Tomorrow, the base will hold the fourth in a series of "Track Day" events that allow riders to develop or refine motorcycle handling skills in a controlled environment.
