Although 2009 presented challenges for nearly everyone, the Hawaii K-Drama Fan Club year-end meeting was very upbeat and focused on helping other communities.

About 150 members and guests put on red fan club shirts and got together Sunday at Lau Yee Chai Restaurant in Waikíkí for a silent auction, entertainment and special guests, all themed K-pop, of course.

The Hawai'i K-Drama Fan club is one of the oldest and largest K-drama fan clubs in Hawai'i and I would bet that they have as much, if not more, knowledge and passion for hallyu (Korean wave, K-drama) than any other club. Comprised mostly of local ladies who might not be Korean by blood but surely are in heart, club members put in countless hours volunteering at Korean community events and purchasing VIP seats for Korean concerts and the Korean Cultural Center fundraiser. Many members were featured in local filmmaker Brent Anbe's short film "Ajumma, Are You Crazy?" which won this year's Hawaii International Film Festival's Audience Award and Viewers Choice Award.

Anbe was at the club's year-end meeting to show a preview of his latest DVD, scheduled for release tomorrow. Other entertainment included a traditional Korean dance "Tal Choom," with fully costumed and masked dancers, and a Kaimukí dance troupe performance to the Korean R&B hit "Tell Me" by the Wonder Girls.

The proceeds from the fundraiser went to the Helemano Plantation in Wahiawä.

Kudos to the Ajummas of the Hawaii K-Drama Fan Club for their support of the Korean community. "Kamsa hamnida" for teaching many of us the importance of helping others in the community.

Tonight at 7:45 p.m.: Manbok tells Sungjoon to leave the house when he learns he'd gone drinking with the money he gave him for hospital bills. Manbok also tells Junggil and Juhee to go down on their knees and apologize for not raising their son properly. Hyunsu talks to Minjun about his daughter and Junggyung. Tomorrow at 7:45 p.m.: Jungin and Geumja get kicked out for going on a shopping spree. Hyunsu buys a drink for Jungin to console her. Hansae is bothered when he sees Jungin with Hyunsu. Hansae asks Hyunsu to help him get back together with Jungin.

'LOVE YOU 1000 TIMES'

EPISODES 5 AND 6

Sunday at 6:45 p.m.: Eun-nim's father leaves the hospital. Eun-nim is pregnant and having terrible morning sickness. Se-hoon's whole family is ecstatic about Sun-young's pregnancy. Gang-ho gets ready to leave, but the wallet he found keeps bothering him. Se-hoon stops going to the bar where Yeon-hee works after he finds out about his wife's pregnancy. Sunday at 7:45 p.m.: Eun-nim tells her family she needs to repay her friend by going to China to work for a year. Sun-young is tired of living a lie. Se-hoon is ecstatic about the baby, but doesn't understand his wife's moodiness. Gang-ho tries to return the wallet one last time. Eun-nim grows more and more attached to the baby.

'ANGEL'S TEMPTATION'

Monday at 7:45 p.m.: Aran is scared to find Hyun-woo gone from his bed. Just then Jae-hee pretends to come back from a stroll with Hyun-woo in a wheelchair. Aran stamps Hyun-woo's fingerprint on a document that gives her control of Soul Furniture in case of Hyun-woo's absence. Tuesday at 7:45 p.m.: Aran sets the summerhouse on fire. Hyun-woo narrowly escapes and calls Jae-hee for help. Hyun-woo's family is devastated by the news of fire, and Hyun-woo's mother is blamed for starting the fire by leaving the stove on. Joo-seung and Aran are worried when they can't find Hyun-woo's body in the burnt house.

'HE'S BEAUTIFUL'

Wednesday at 7:45pm: Jeremy is shocked to see Minahm crying and Taekyung hugging him. President Ahn compliments Minahm's debut performance and tells him to prepare for an interview. But Minahm hears the news about his birth mother and breaks down in tears. Taekyung helps Minahm to dress like a girl and sneak out to go meet his manager. Thursday at 7:45 p.m.: Youie visits President Ahn to give VIP tickets to her movie premiere. Then she visits Taekyung at the studio but Taekyung ignores her. Youie gets extremely jealous when she sees President Ahn, Taekyung, Shinwoo, and Jeremy all surrounding Minahm. Minahm plans to go to Myung-dong Church to meet Reverend Mother. Shinwoo offers to take him but Minahm asks Taekyung to give him a ride.
