Honolulu drops in economy rankings

Honolulu fell out of the top 20 best performing metropolitan areas during the third quarter, according to the latest report from the Brookings Institution's MetroMonitor program.
Honolulu had ranked in the top-fifth of the nation's largest 100 metropolitan areas during the second quarter.
But the newest analysis of economic conditions for the cities shows it is now in the top 40.
Honolulu performed well in terms of unemployment rate, change in unemployment and real-estate owned properties, ranking in the top 20 cities.
But it was in the lowest tier when it came to change in employment during the past quarter, and the second-lowest tier in a ranking of housing price changes.
