Hawaii flags ordered at half-staff for late Sen. Stanley Hara
Gov. Linda Lingle has ordered the Hawai‘i state flag to fly at half-staff at state and county buildings throughout Hawai‘i on Saturday from sunrise to sunset in honor of former state Sen. Stanley Hara, who died on Dec. 1.
Hara was elected as a representative to the Hawai‘i Territorial Legislature in 1954 and served in the state Senate until 1980. The governor issued a proclamation that encourages residents to display the state flag at half-staff at their homes and businesses on Saturday, when services for Hara will take place in Hilo.
