NCAA volleyball: Texas sweeps Minnesota, gains first final since 1995

The Texas Longhorns relied on All-American Destinee Hooker and numerous Minnesota errors en route to a sweep of Minnesota in the NCAA women's volleyball semifinals today at Tampa, Fla.

The scores were 25-19, 25-20, 25-15, sending the Longhorns to their first national title game since 1995.
In the first game, Hooker had seven kills in 13 attempts as the Longhorns cruised to victory, pulling away from a 12-all tie.
In the second game, Minnesota led 18-16, but Texas scored three in a row to take the lead for good. Hooker added five more kills.
In game three, Minnesota jumped to a 12-8 lead. But Texas came storming back, going on a 12-1 run to take a 20-13 lead.
Minnesota had 18 hitting errors to Texas' 10. The Gophers also had three service errors.
