Search committee for new city auditor hoping to make selection in February
The Honolulu City Council’s City Auditor Search Committee held its first meeting yesterday and City Councilmember Charles K. Djou was elected the committee chair.
Les Tanaka will retire on Dec. 31 after having served as the city auditor for the past seven years.
Any applicant interested in applying to become the next city auditor should send their resume and a cover letter to the Honolulu City Auditor Search Committee, Attn.: Charles K. Djou, Chair, 530 S. King St., Rm. 202, Honolulu, HI 96813. Applications will be accepted until Feb. 1.
Djou said in a news release that the search committee hopes to make its selection on the next city auditor by the end of February. The nominee will be subject to City Council confirmation. The search committee comprises Djou; Councilmember Ann Kobayashi; David S. Chang, a principal with Wealth Bridge financial advisers; and Jodi Yamamoto, an attorney with Yamamoto and Settle.
The city auditor position currently pays $118,000/year and supervises a six-person office.
