NFL: Late Browns great's Hall of Fame ring returned

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Frank "Gunner" Gatski's family has the late football star's Hall of Fame ring back, just in time for the holidays.
The ring was stolen a decade ago from the former NFL and Marshall University standout's West Virginia home. That was the last time anyone on the right side of the law saw the ring until it turned up in an anonymous letter to Morgantown Police Chief Phil Scott earlier this month.
An accompanying note asked the police to return it to its rightful owner. Morgantown police Lt. Mike Lantz planned to give the ring to Gatski's daughter Thursday.
Gatski played in 10 straight championship games for the Cleveland Browns and one season for the Detroit Lions during the 1940s and 1950s. He died in 2005.
