BlackBerry users in North America were hit with e-mail messaging delays for the second time in a week Tuesday. Some users were up and running again yesterday morning, but others still reported problems.

Oceanic Time Warner Cable said it will launch its new 4G Road Runner Mobile network on Jan. 4.

The new service will be available in most areas on O'ahu and Maui and is the first in a line of mobile broadband services Oceanic plans to roll out in 2010.

Oceanic said Road Runner Mobile includes all the same features as Road Runner High Speed Online including a full security suite, e-mail, data storage, Photoshow and the Road Runner portal.

HAWAII DEVELOPMENT FINED $31,415

The state Tax Department said Hawaii Development Consultants Inc. and its president, Stanforde K. Sagum, have pleaded guilty to not filing annual general excise tax returns for three years.

The department said Hawaii Development was ordered to pay restitution totaling $31,415, while Sagum was assessed a $6,000 fine. It said the company failed to file returns for the years 2005 to 2007.

ISLES NAMED BEST U.S. STATE DESTINATION

Hawai'i has been chosen by Travel Weekly as the winner in the Best U.S. State Destination category in its annual Readers' Choice Awards.

Travel Weekly reaches more than 180,000 readers, a group comprised of travel professionals.

Maui was recognized within the Hawai'i category as Best Destination.

STATE COINCIDENT INDEX DOWN 0.4 PERCENT

Hawai'i's coincident index fell by 0.4 percent in October, according to a report from the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia.

The decline compared with a rise in the national coincident index of 0.1 percent.

The index measures economic indicators thought to closely coincide with the overall economy such as jobs, unemployment, average hours worked in manufacturing and inflation-adjusted income.
