A high surf advisory is in effect for the north- and west-facing shores of Ni'ihau, Kaua'i, O'ahu and Moloka'i, the north-facing shores of Maui and the west-facing shores of the Big Island.

The previous high-surf warning has been canceled.
A northwest swell, which is expected to diminish through the weekend, is expected to generate waves as big as 20 feet in some areas.
