Following a day of golf at Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course at the nearby Marine base, President Obama left the course about 4:30 p.m. and stopped at Pyramid Rock Beach, a small cove still on the base, so he could get out and check out the waves.
Swimmers and sunbathers looked up in surprise to see the commander in chief.
Obama - wearing a white golf shirt, tan baseball cap and sunglasses – could be seen pointing and waving at onlookers. He took in the sight for a few minutes, then got back into his SUV and headed back to the Kailua rental house, where he arrived shortly before 5 p.m.
Media covering the president were kept far from the president’s golfing party. No word on the day’s golf scores.
