Czech jazz pianist Emil Viklicky is making his Honolulu debut at the Hawaii Public Radio's Atherton Studio tonight.

Viklicky picked the intimate venue after being impressed by HPR's Bosendorfer piano when he played it a year ago.

The composer and pianist has won prestigious awards for his synthesis of modern jazz and Moravian folk songs, along with contemporary jazz and chamber and orchestral works. Viklicky often performs with international ensembles, and his music has been featured in films and television programs.

The concert is at 7:30 p.m. at the Atherton Performing Arts Studio, 738 Kaheka St. Tickets are $25 general, $20 for HPR members and $15 for students with ID. Call 955-8821 or see www.hawaiipublicradio.org for more.
