Designer line for pets expanding

Last May, entrepreneur Liane Onaga started the Fauna Collection, a fresh and new designer line of pet clothing.
Onaga went to Punahou and graduated in business and marketing from the University of Hawai'i in 2005. Her business background got her thinking about creating a pet clothing line when she had a hard time finding clothes for her own dogs that were of decent quality and reasonably priced.
She picked the name "fauna" because her clothing is made for all animals. She's had some requests for clothing for rabbits and cats too.
"It's been exciting," says Onaga. "People have been so accepting. They love feel of the shirts, which are made of Tanguis cotton and Lycra. Just because they're pets, it doesn't mean they don't deserve something comfortable and of good quality."
The entire line is made of human-grade cloth starting from $20.
"My best-sellers are the licensed UH shirts. People have been buying for family and friends on the Mainland."
She is working on a new collection of UH shirts and clothing for extra-large dogs, up to 115 pounds, that will debut in February.
Liane has two dogs at home: Toby, a Pomeranian-fox terrier, and Riley, a Brussels griffon-Chihuahua.
You can buy clothing from the Fauna Collection at these stores: The Pet Spot, 55 Pawsh Place, Koolau Pets, Bark Avenue, The Pet Depot and Tails of Hawaii. The UH shirts can be purchased at all Rainbowtique stores and online at www.ilovefauna.com.
During the cooler winter months, Zoe wears T-shirts to keep warm. The Fauna Collection is not only a perfect gift for any UH fan with pets, but to keep your pets comfy, too!
