See Animal Planet star on Maui
Advertiser Staff and News Services
Fans of Animal Planet's "The Jeff Corwin Experience" can see the conservationist TV star and pinup (named one of People magazine's most beautiful people in 2002) when he talks about endangered species and ecosystems on Maui Thursday. The talk, part of a "Focus Green" discussion series, benefits the island's Hawai'i Nature Center. 6 p.m. Thursday, Maui Arts & Cultural Center; $5 (students free); 808-270-0567.

ECO-FRIENDLY PEST CONTROL
Terminix offers these green tips:
Install a tight-fitting door sweep on the bottom of all exterior doors. Rats can squeeze through openings the size of a quarter. Mice can get through gaps as small as a dime.
Clean floors and countertops regularly. Crumbs and dirty dishes are easy meals for roaches and can keep them coming back for more.
Store human and pet food in sealable containers to discourage ants. Don't let pet food sit out in the bowl overnight.
Use low-watt, yellow insect bulbs around exterior doors. They'll attract fewer flying insects than white light.
