FEMA to close Laie, Waianae disaster recovery centers

Advertiser Staff

Disaster recovery centers at Laie and Waianae will close at 5 p.m. Saturday, the Federal Emergency Management Agency said today in a press release.

The centers were opened in response to damages caused by rain and flooding in December 2008.

The Haleiwa center, at the Waialua Community Association at 66-434 Kamehameha Highway, will remain open. Its hours are noon to 8 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays.

Oahu residents who are seeking assistance are encouraged to register with FEMA before visiting a recovery center by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the speech or hearing impaired.

The deadline to register for assistance is Friday, March 6.
