Let's just call it South Pacific by Southwest from now on.
One of the biggest annual music festivals in the world, the South by Southwest Music Festival (or SXSW, to insiders) is getting a Pacific infusion this year with its first Hawaiian Island contingency.
Five contemporary Hawaiian music performers — John Cruz, Anuhea, One Right Turn, David Tamaoka and Pipmpot — have been chosen to participate in the fest held every spring in Austen, Texas.
The five made the cut from more than 10,500 submissions to participate in the massive festival, which, now in its 23rd year, comprises more than 1,800 bands and performers over a jam-packed four-night stretch from March 18 through 22.
