Church is latest Kauai burglary target

Associated Press

The West Kauai United Methodist Church in Kaumakani is Kauai's latest burglary victim after recent break-ins at the Kauai Food Bank and the Salvation Army.

The perpetrators broke into the church at some point between last Sunday and Tuesday, tearing off the window facing the kitchen sink.

Jose Bulatao is the church's administrative board chairman.

He says only food from the refrigerator was taken. He says the burglars looked around but didn't steal anything else.

Late last month, burglars broke into the Kauai Food Bank in Nawiliwili and stole about $241 in cash after grinding off a safe door.

Also in January, someone broke into the Salvation Army in Lihue and stole money from the register.
