Illness forces changes for Diamond Head Theatre's 'Souvenir'

Diamond Head Theatre is offering refunds or the chance to catch one of the remaining shows of "Souvenir," following the cancellation of performances Saturday and Sunday after leading actress Stefanie Smart was hospitalized Saturday evening.
Patrons can call the DHT box office at 733-0274.
Smart's illness was not disclosed.
Thespian Mary Chestnut, who is currently in rehearsal for "Carmen" with the Hawaii Opera Theatre, will step into the role of Florence Foster Jenkins for the upcoming weekend. Laurence Paxton will continue his role as Cosme McMoon.
"Our thoughts and prayers go toward the rapid recovery of Ms. Smart," said artistic director John Rampage. "In the meantime, we are confident that Ms. Chestnut will fill the role admirably."
Shows currently scheduled are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 4 p.m. Sunday.
Thursday's show is canceled and the Saturday matinee performance is pending.
Current ticketholders are in the process of being notified.
