The Hawaii Paroling Authority this afternoon said it will decide within two weeks whether to grant parole to a man who caused an accident that killed four people in 2006.
The authority in January set a minimum sentence of five months and six days, or time served, by John Szemkow.
Szemkow was found at fault an accident in an accident in Kunia that killed four farm workers.
"We are not to decide today," authority chairman Albert Tufono told Szemkow.
Two women related to victims of the crash urged the authority not to grant parole.
Anilyn Kruz, whose aunt Aquilinay Polendey was killed in the crash, said it was too soon to let Szemkow be released.
Another witness, Marlene Sagucio, whose husband Edgar was injured in the crash, wept and asked the authority, "Why are you guys giving him a parole?"
Deputy city prosecutor Franklin D. Pacarro also objected to early parole.
Szemkow sat in a wheelchair during the proceeding, wearing a blue prison jumpsuit.
