Earthquake rolls across ocean floor near Big Isle

A very minor earthquake rolled across the ocean floor about 2:45 a.m. this morning approximately 20 miles north-northwest of Kalaoa on the Big Island.
It was assigned a preliminary magnitude of 2.9. No damage or injuries have been reported and no tsunami was generated.
The Big Island is one of the most seismically active locations in the Pacific, where dozens of minor earthquakes are reported, sometimes on a daily basis.
Information on today's temblor was reported by the U.S. Geological Survey, Hawaiian Volcano Observatory at Hawaii National Park.
