Plastic shopping bags and incandescent bulbs will be banned from the U.S. Coast Guard's base exchange on Sand Island starting next month, the service announced today.
Customers who use the exchange at the Integrated Support Command will be encourged to bring their own cloth bags. For a short time, cloth bags will be given away as a promotion.
Also, starting in March, the exchange will only stock high efficiency light bulbs, the Coast Guard said.
