Prospective filmmakers can learn from top screenwriters

By Wanda A. Adams

Prospective filmmakers — particularly those with no experience or who are unsure how to turn their ideas into a screenplay that sells — may want to check in on the 2009 Big Island Film Festivals "Screenplay in a Day" class, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 16 at Waikoloa Beach Resort.

Three top screenwriters, with credits from 20th Century Fox, Disney, DreamWorks, MTV, New Line Cinema, Revolution Studios and others, teach key creative and Hollywood business concepts to students at all levels. Cost is $40 for the full-day seminar, made possible through a grant from the Hawai'i County Film Commissioner's Office and Hawai'i County Department of Research and Development.

Go to www.BigIslandFilmFestival.com or call 808-883-0394.
