HONOLULU — A U.S. Coast Guard air crew transported an ill 58-year-old woman from the Big Island to Oahu yesterday.

The Coast Guard Joint Rescue Coordination Center in Honolulu received a call from a Hawaii Department of Health official yesterday morning about a woman suffering from chest pains, according to a Coast Guard news release.

At 2 p.m., a Coast Guard C-130 long-range search aircraft crew departed Air Station Barbers Point for Hilo International Airport with a Disaster Medical Assist Team aboard to pick up the woman.

The crew returned to Barbers Point where Honolulu Emergency Medical Services personnel transferred the patient to an ambulance at 5:20 p.m. The woman was then transported to The Queen's Medical Center.
