A-Rod: Rodriguez has uneventful first workout with Yanks

TAMPA, Fla. — Alex Rodriguez has completed an uneventful workout with the New York Yankees, his first since a news conference in which he claimed his cousin repeatedly injected him from 2001-03 with a mysterious substance from the Dominican Republic.
The star third baseman spent most of Wednesday's workout on a back field behind the first-base stands at Steinbrenner Field. He fielded grounders, hit in an indoor cage, taking batting practice on the back field, and finished with bunting practice in the bullpen and conditioning on the field behind the third-base stands.
Rodriguez did not comment on his workout. Yankees captain Derek Jeter, who watched Tuesday's news conference from a front-row seat, said he was disappointed that A-Rod tested positive but remained supportive of his troubled teammate.
