CBKB: Oregon beats Stanford, ends 14-game Pac-10 losing streak

Associated Press

EUGENE, Ore. — Michael Dunigan scored 14 points for Oregon and the Ducks ended a 14-game losing streak with a 68-60 victory against reeling Stanford on Saturday.

Oregon got its first Pac-10 win of the season and its first win overall since beating Long Beach State on Dec. 29.

LeKendric Longmire scored 11 and Joevan Catron had 10 points for the Ducks (7-20, 1-14), who came dangerously close to being just the second team to go 0-15 in conference play since the conference went to an 18-game schedule in 1978-79.

Landry Fields scored 19, Lawrence Hill added 18 and Anthony Goods scored 16 for Stanford (15-10, 4-10), which has lost 7-of-9 games since beating Oregon 77-55 on Jan. 22.

Freshman Matt Humphrey gave the Ducks the lead for good with a 3-pointer from the right corner at the 2:15 mark to make it 59-56.

Hill hit a long jumper with his foot on the 3-point line to get the Cardinal within a point, but Kamyron Brown answered with another 3-pointer for Oregon with 1:06 remaining for a 62-58 advantage.

After free throws by Goods made it 60-62 with 57.8 seconds left, the Ducks outscored the Cardinal 6-0 the rest of the way, including a steal, layup and free throw by Humphrey with seconds remaining. Himphrey finished with nine points, including six in the final 2:15.

Oregon's 29-28 halftime lad was its first in seven games.
