Neighbor Island airfare is a bargain these days, but if you've been craving some Kaua'i kulolo, Moloka'i dried squid, Kona coffee or Hilo lava tubes, all you have to do is head to Kamehameha Schools Kapalama campus today.
The Kamehameha Schools 79th annual Ho'olaule'a — E Aloha, E Ola Pono (Live Love, Live Right) isn't all about food, though.
The annual fundraiser for curricular enrichment grants offers family-friendly entertainment. Performers include Holunape, Ledward Ka'apana, Del Beazley, Brother Noland and Vaihi, along with the student marching band, concert glee club, children's choir, Hawaiian ensemble and a new dance company.
For the keiki, there are rides, inflatables, a dunking booth, crafts and games. Everyone can learn about health, education and families at the community booths, too.
Admission is free and so is parking, but there are lots of opportunities to shop at the Ho'olaule'a Country Store and Garden Shop, bid at the silent auction or pick up Kamehameha brownies and package mix.
For more substantial food, you can go with Hawaiian or Korean plates, or indulge your sweet tooth with malassadas or treats from The Sweet Shoppe.
