Friesen, Heimbach earn golds

University of Hawai'i diver Emma Friesen won the 3-meter diving final yesterday at the Western Athletic Conference Championships in San Antonio, Texas.
Friesen, who won her third consecutive 1-meter springboard title on Thursday, took home her first 3-meter diving title with a score of 361.20.
UH's Elliko Heimbach won the 100-yard butterfly (53.29 seconds) to earn her second gold (50 free).
After three days of competition, Nevada leads with 442 points. UH is fifth at 340.
MEN WIN TWO GOLDS
The University of Hawai'i men's swimming and diving team won two individual gold medals on the third day of the Conference USA Championships yesterday in Houston, Texas.
Senior Greg Wilson won the 100-yard butterfly (47.85). Senior Nicola Xella won the 100 breaststroke (54.86).
UH remained in second place with 506.5 points. SMU continues to lead with 619 points and East Carolina is third at 358 points.
SOFTBALL
UH WINS OPENER, 2-0
Courtney Baughman fired a one-hitter with a season-high seven strikeouts as the University of Hawai'i softball team beat Mount St. Mary's, 2-0, yesterday in its opening game of the 2009 Bank of Hawaii Invitational tournament.
Clare Warwick had a run-scoring double and Audrey Andrade added an RBI single in the sixth inning for UH (4-11) against the Mountaineers (0-1) at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.

The University of Hawai'i women's soccer team picked up a 2-0 win over Air Force in a spring exhibition yesterday afternoon at the Rainbow Wahine practice field.
Junior forward Ambree Ako scored and added an assist on transfer's Britta Bourne's goal for Hawai'i.
