Fall-prevention demo for seniors

Pearl City Public Library will host "Healthy Aging: Learn How to Prevent Falls," a free interactive demonstration for seniors and interested adults, at 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 22.

The event will be held in the library's adult reading room.

Sponsored by Kapi'olani Community College's Physical Therapy Assistants Program, program director Jill Wakabayashi and instructor Ann Low will teach participants how to keep themselves and their environment safe from falls through various exercises and balance techniques.

They will be assisted by 15 college students from the KCC physical therapy assistants program.

EVENING EVENTS AT KAHUKU LIBRARY

Kahuku Public and School Library will hold four Tuesday evening programs starting next week, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The programs are:

  • "Care and Feeding of Indoor Plants" with Stella Keil, scheduled for Tuesday.

  • "The Magic Mountain" by Thomas Mann will be discussed by the Kahuku Book Club on Jan. 13.

  • "Managing Stress To Live a Healthier Life," with Dr. Halona Tanner, Jan. 20.

  • "Hawaiian Herbs No. 4 — La'au in your Backyard," with Kapua Fonoimoana and Carol Anamizu, Jan. 27.
