Three Marines questioned over Obama threats

Authorities have dismissed an allegation that three Kane'ohe Bay Marines made threatening remarks about President-elect Barack Obama during his recent vacation in Hawai'i, a Marine Corps spokesman said.
One Marine reported to base officials that he heard other Marines, during a car ride, make remarks that were perceived as threats against Obama, who was staying with his family near the base in a rented home on Kailua Beach.
The three Marines were escorted to the provost marshal's office Monday and were questioned by the U.S. Secret Service, said base spokesman Maj. Alan Crouch.
The alleged threat turned out to be unfounded, and the Marines were released, Crouch said.
Obama was a regular presence on the base during his 12-day vacation, which ended Thursday. He worked out at the base's Semper Fit Center seven times.
