Weather: Sunny with a few isolated showers

Winds will become lighter today as a high pressure area northeast of the state moves away and weakens, and a weak front approaches from the northwest, the National Weather Service said.

The trade winds will temporarily strengthen again tomorrow as the front dissipates, forecasters said.

The winds will weaken and shift to southeast starting Thursday night as a stronger front approaches from the northwest.The front will push through the islands Sunday bringing widespread rain.

Here's a closer look at what's in store for the next few days:

Today: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 79. East wind between 11 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Tonight: Scattered showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 69. East wind between 11 and 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Wednesday: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 79. East wind around 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Wednesday night: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. East wind between 11 and 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Thursday: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 79. East wind around 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Thursday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 67. East wind between 8 and 10 mph.
