Surf: 8-12 feet expected on north-facing shores

Advertiser Staff

Surf along Oahu's north- and west-facing shores is on the rise, with heights of 8 to 12 feet expected today along north-facing shores and 6 to 9 feet along west-facing shores, the National Weather Service said.

Surf along east facing shores will diminish to heights of 4 to 6 feet today, while surf along south facing shores will be 2 feet or less.

Outlook through Monday, Jan. 12: Surf along east-facing shores will continue to gradually decline as the trade wind swell subsides.

A new west-northwest swell will build through today. Blocking of the swell by Kauai will limit surf along north- and west-facing shores to moderate levels. A northwest swell due this weekend will boost surf to around the advisory level across north- and west-facing shores.
