Honolulu's Parker McLachlin used a strong start en route to a 4-under-par 69 today in the third round of the Mercedes-Benz Championship at Kapalua, Maui.

McLachlin was at 4-under 215 and tied for 24th in the tournament for 2008 PGA Tour event winners. Geoff Ogilvy, who has led since the first round, shot a 65 for a 19-under 200, six strokes ahead of Justin Leonard, who also shot a 65 at the Plantation Course.

McLachlin had four birdies on the front nine (Nos. 3, 4, 6 and 9) and another on the par-3 No. 11 to get to 5 under. But he had bogeys on Nos. 13 and 16 (both par-4s) before finishing with a birdie on the par-5 No. 18.
