Keisha Kanekoa returned to the University of Hawai'i women's basketball team's lineup yesterday, but the Rainbow Wahine still lost at San Jose State, 54-50, in a Western Athletic Conference game.

Kanekoa, a sophomore point guard, missed the previous four games with an ankle injury. She started and finished with five points and two assists in 23 minutes.

Natalie Wilson scored 21 points, including 5 of 5 on 3-point attempts, and fellow reserve Chasity Shavers added 11 points for San Jose State (2-13, 1-1).

Dita Liepkalne scored 12 points to lead Hawai'i (3-12, 0-2). Catherine Cho and Tara Hittle added six points apiece.

The Rainbow Wahine got within 53-50 after two free throws by Leilani Galdones with 1 minute left.

White hit the first of two free throws to make it 54-50 with 7 seconds left to seal the victory for the Spartans.
