Wai'anae teen hit by car in critical condition
A 14-year-old Wai'anae boy was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in critical condition after he was struck Sunday night by a car on Farrington Highway near Kimo Street in Ma'ili, police said.
Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city Emergency Services Department, said paramedics were sent to the area at 10:19 p.m. and found the boy, who appeared to have been hit by a vehicle traveling at a moderate speed.
Police said the boy was struck at 10:19 p.m. by a Wai'anae-bound car driven by a 30-year-old Wai'anae woman. Police said the boy was on the highway and was not in a crosswalk. The driver was not injured.
The use of alcohol or drugs, or speeding do not appear to be factors in the case, police said.
